About Torus
Wedge
In 2008, Joel David Bell, President of Densipro, obtained a patent for a Torus
Wedge meter. His
flowmeter design consists of an inner cylindrical tube and an outer
cylindrical tube. The tubes are sized so that there is an annular space
between them, which is sealed, thereby forcing the fluid to flow through
the inner tube. The
inner tube has an opening in it to balance the pressure of the flow
travelling through the tube with the pressure in the annular space. A torus
wedge is integrated into the inner tube. This creates a restriction in the
flow, and a pressure drop. By
examining the two cylindrical tubes in combination, a pressure reading is
determined.
